Representation is important in all fields. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are no exception. This (currently rather small) collection of links should provide a stepping off point, from which those interested in hearing more about the work and experiences of LGBTQ+ people working in STEM can proceed.
(If you have any suggestions for resources I could include, do please get in touch.)
Pride in STEM is a charitable trust that has the rather delightful mantra of aiming to "queer up science spaces" and "science up queer spaces". Take a look at the 'Out Thinkers' section on their webpage, to hear about some of the fascinating work being done by LGBTQ+ scientists.
This page has a wonderful range of interviews with LGBTQ+ people working in STEM fields. Another glimse into the interesting work being done by researchers of all genders & sexualities.
The oSTEM mentoring program is designed to support LGBTQ+ STEM students and early career professionals. If you're an LGBTQ+ undergraduate/postgraduate student, it can be a great way to find a mentor (or even sign up to be a mentor) to get support for professional, personal, and community development.
This discord server for transgender and non-binary physicists (students, researchers, and enthusiasts) was set up by a friend of mine for the purpose of socialising, networking, and offering support to one another.
Please be respectful of this space. Allies welcome!
